fault code 3-1-1 & check engine light 900 1995

I am getting the check engine light on.

I have been able to get the light off but after a few drives it comes back on.

The interpretation I have read says that the speedometer signal is malfunctioning and that this indicates a wiring problem in the speedometer bundle.

Before i start to tear the speedometer apart, is there any other explanation for this code snag?

My cruise control is not working but otherwise the car 󞩻 944] is running normally.

Dear muskox37,

Hope you're well. I do not recall seeing a post, wherein a 3-1-1 Code was mentioned.

That said, you might want to replace the cylindrical, red-orange bulb burn-out relay, with a "known-good" used unit. See if that helps matters. When the bulb burn-out relay fails, cruise control ceases to work. If relay replacement restores cruise control function, does the 3-1-1 Code "go away" or does it persist?

Further, a "check engine light" usually indicates a problem with pollution-control devices, e.g., an EGR valve malfunction, loss of the oxygen sensor's signal, etc.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
