new question...rear tab bushing tool...for sale? 200

Hi: have several 240's. Need to get them in better shape. All old, high mileage, worn bushings. Have a guy that has done some things for me. Would like to buy a properly made tool so he might put tabs in all 3. Have the fuel bung and timing cam holder from IPD. Need TAB tool, anything else suggested? Thanks!

Given you're not going to use the tool yourself, you probably won't be building one yourself, if I'm not assuming too much...

Also calls for a 5079 spacer Tasca says is NLA. Maybe your guy can improvise on this. Or check this ebay listing:

Common to make one from pipe fittings and all thread. Easy and cheap. Make sure your althread is fine thread, much stronger push.

not commonly known outside machine shop circles is....... the maximum torque available to a nut threaded tight is when the nuts gripping thread is 150% of the diameter of the rod/bolt being threaded.

on the t-arm bushing tool the long bolt or rod is typically 1/2" diameter. this mean the nut with the best grip for your money will be 3/4" in length with thread for the full 3/4"

less than 3/4 is less than max and more than 3/4 is no additional benefit

Make one. The bushings are not that hard to push out or in (at least on my '92 in salty Minnesota). The bushings are tapered...

Alternative. Remove rubber bush with a large hole saw leaving the outer sleeve in place. Drilling the rubber in several places can help. Clean off any rubber residue back to bare clean metal. Fit poly bushes and refit arm. Move onto the next car.............
