Denso (NipponDenso) Alternator Brush Screws 900 1994

I'm replacing worn brushes in several Denso 80A and 100A alternators. The two screws that hold the brush assembly in are corroded. Volvo does not give a P/N and lists them and many Denso alternator parts as "no longer available". I measured one and it is 6mm long, 4mm diameter, and has a thread type .70

Does anyone have a source for these screws and maybe a P/N?

The screws you seek might have been otherwise used, and so be available, just not under a "Volvo" part number.

Thanks Herb and Spook. I did find some screws at menard.com, our local hardware (and most everything else) store. Happy to see more metric hardware available these days in general hardware stores.

I had trouble with one of the screws like Herb mentioned but a punch on the edge and a few wraps with a small ball peen hammer did the job of loosening it.

Any ideas on cleaning up the slip rings (commutator) without seperating the halves of the alternator? I have several that aren't too badly grooved. The 80A slip rings are in much better shape than the 100A slip rings. The bearings are amazing in these alternators even with the strong tension on the belt. I have never had a bad bearing.

I think replacing the brushes before they are too short helps prevent heavy grooving of the slip rings.

I just matched them at the bulk hardware section of an auto parts place. Careful with those corroded screws-- I stripped the head on one, which ended up being no fun!
