93 245 A/C condenser fan not working 200 1993

HI All,

My A/C condenser fan is not working 93 245. I have changed the a/c condenser fan relay on the drivers side fender.

I've also run 12v directly to the fan and it works well.

I changed the coolant a while ago and unfortunately the overpressure switch is directly under the lower radiator hose so it got flooded.

Also my car's a/c compressor can't be turned off with the switch on the dash. It can only be turned off by turning off the switch and turning off the car completely. I've found out the a/c relay behind the center console inside the car is most likely to blame for this. If replaced it should turn off with the switch.

My question is does the relay behind the center console have anything to do with the operation of the condenser fan?

It's over 100 everyday here and need to get this condenser fan operational. I am thinking of putting in a relay wiring the fan to come on whenever the compressor is running.

Thanks in advance,
HACK

HACK,

Look here for your answers to your questions. Its right on the first page.

There are two pressure switches on your car that will turn on different things: 1) for the fan and the 2) for the compressor.

The pressure switch under the radiator hose is the one for the condenser fan. It is either bad, OR you are low on FREON.

The second switch is located on the accumulater/dryer located on the passenger front fender. This is your low pressure switch and controls where or not to allow the compressor to engage or not.

If the compressor is running all the time and does not cut out, I'll assume that your freon charge it good.

Since you have said that the fan does work when powered directly, now you need to check to see if when you unplug the connection to the over pressure switch and jumper the connector together does the fan come on. If so, then you have a bad over pressure switch, if it does not then you need to check the relay on the driver side of the car even though you said you just replaced it. You need to check everything to make sure you got all your bases covered.

Hope this helps.

Matt

One last question.

Can the pressure switch under the radiator hose (the one for the condenser fan) be replaced without loosing all of my freon?

Thanks,

Now don't quote me on this, but from what I've heard you will lose a minuscule amount.

When I get home tonight, I'll look at some of my hard lines that I have laying around and see what they look like on the other end of the pressure switch and get back to you here as I'm not curious. I should have done this last night, but I was too tired to get one down again.

Later,

Matt
