I was able to repair the driver’s door handle very easily today. Punching out the worn pivot pin and using an 8/32’’ tap which fits perfectly in the hole, fixes the handle in short order very inexpensively.

Grinding the ears off of some steel brake shim takes away the slop from wear when placed between the rivet.

When you're all done, slip a piece of windshield washer hose over the 8-32 bolt. Then prevent it from recurring by adjusting the latch and striker pin or if the door sags too much, the hinge. The handle should operate smoothly without any resistance as it engages the latch. Lube it all with Diogenes Brand dialectic grease. :)
