Upgrading to e-codes 1992 volvo 940 900

I have a set of e- codes that I'm going to install on my 1992 volvo 940. I have a set of wire adaptors for the 9004 bulb ends. Should I run the lights off relays instead of directly off the conversion harness? Thanks for any info.

    I installed a set in my 1995 945 about five years ago without adding relays, and everything has worked fine. Dramatic improvement in lighting.
