Calling Ron Kwas/444 wiper switch 444-544

Since the wiper in my 444 doesn't work and I am changing to 12 volt, I am trying to figure if I can use the original 6 volt switch to power the 12 volt motor. The switch is 2 position. In connects 31b green to 31 black. Out connects 54d red to 54 blue. I have two SWF 12 volt motors. One is from I believe a p1800 and has the four tab connectors 53, 31b, 53a, and 31. The other has no tab connector on position 53 but has a resistor or diode soldered to 53 and 31b. On either of these motors, if I connect constant 12v to 53a and ground to 31 it will run when I connect 12v to 31b and return to park when I remove it but I know this is not the way Volvo wired them and I don't want to ruin anything.

Advice greatly appreciated.

gh;

You can contact me off-line through Sw-Em site, and I'll see about helping you sort your Wipers.

... I don't believe an 1800 Wiper Motor will fit a 444. See also: http://www.sw-em.com/544%20Wiper%20Info.htm

Cheers

Ron is correct that an 1800 wiper motor won't fit a PV.

A 12v 544 motor or a 145/245 rear wiper motor will fit (but these require different wire terminals), and the original 444 wiper switch will work just fine with 12v.

I can convert your stock SWF 6 volt wiper motor to work with 12 volt.
