1993 Volvo 240

I ordered up new Volvo OE bushings for my front sway bar, without looking at was already in place. I knew they were original. Silly me thought they would be direct replacements, but they are not. (pics below)

The original ones are #9131955, and the replacements are #1273184. The new ones do not fit in the brackets correctly.

Questions:

1. Should I convert to the new bushings or get the replacements that match? (note I'm not asking about poly, only about the diff between these two OE bushing types)

2. What are the bracket part #s that match this newer bushing style?

Two of my 240s have both those styles of bushings.

The first pic you show are the style that was on my 90 244.

The second pic you show are the style that came on my 92 245.

My sway bar has red paint markings. What size does that indicate? 19mm?

Try sticking an open end millimeter wrench over the bars diameter to find out what size it is.
If you don't have one use an adjustable wrench and then measure the opening.

Those part numbers were for the stock sway bar which is I believe 21mm. If the new bushing fits your bar then it should be 21mm.

The #1273184 Bushing required a #1330185 Clamp and #1359391 Brace when I replaced the original bushings on my 1992 240

The #1273184 bushing is for a 23mm bar.

1273184 is for 700 and 900 series Volvos.

9131955 maybe discontinued, but I found a set here.
