Trying the figure out what B16 series motor I just picked up with a 4 speed transmission. B16A B16B B16D. Depending on the series, the HP and compression is different. The engine I just brought only has B16 and nothing else. No sign of tampering with the cast number. ???????

If it has 2 carbs, it is probably a B16B.

You beat me to it, Eric.

The majority of B16s in this Country are B16Bs. And if it came from a 544, it's definitely a B.

The engine I have in the car is the B16B as casted on the block. The replacement engine only has B16 on the block and has the single Zenith carburetor with a heat riser set up for the manifold casting.. Just trying to figure out the compression of this B16 block.

I'll just go with that it's a B16A engine and with the lowest compression. I can always rebuild the B16B engine that's original to the car with 68,000 on it. The original runs
fine right now but thought about keeping it dual SU4 's

Putting a VO Judson on the newly aquired B16A engine.
