Looking for a post by Art B (parking brakes) 200

Looking for a post by Art B where he "re-laminates" the parking brake shoes, pictorially of course.

I am not finding it with the search feature (big surprise).

Just trying to remember what adhesive was used.

Anyone know where that post is located?

I have not read any posts about 200 series losing emergency brake linings, but I have read several posts about de-laminations and the attendant damage caused in 850s and V70s.

I think I used a two-part epoxy. Long time ago, and long before I discovered JB Weld. I do remember George Downs questioning the safety of making such repairs even for temporary use; perhaps not suitable for advice.

I was going to give him a nasty look, but he already had one.

Thanks, Art.

You know, I searched for parking brake, emergency brake, brake shoe and maybe a couple of other terms and got a lot of results but none with the info I was seeking.

Then I searched for delaminate and there was the thread you mentioned. And several others. I saw JB Weld mentioned in there somewhere. I think I have some.

Should have been more persistent, I guess.

Hi,

If you're concerned about the viability of the glue, or worried about them delaminating at a bad time, you might consider adding a few rivets.

If you search 'Semi tubular rivets ' at McMaster Carr you'll find them. They're also known as brake lining rivets. Very easy to put in, soft brass.

They're cheap, but I think you have to buy 100. If you only need a few, let me know and I'll check my stock. I've relined numerous clutch and brake bands on winches and tractors and always have some left over. They're around here somewhere.

Peter

I pulled the left rear rotor and found the lining still on the shoe.

It's been a few years since I installed them and I was thinking maybe they were sold by MTC or some other aftermarket outfit.

Son of a gun...they were ATE, a trusted brand.

I need to have a look at the right side. When I spun the wheel it made an odd noise like something is loose inside.

I appreciate the offer but I'm pressed for time and the one lining is okay so the other one probably is.
