Heater Valve 1991 240 Wagon 200 1991

Ok folks.. My heat is always on and its getting a little warm.. The heater valve is shot, but all I see are ones with really bad reviews.. from everyone. But Wagonmeister. Pretty pricey has anyone used it, and is it worth it?

I've started using this Heater Valve......Motorcraft Part # YG136. It has a Metal Body, although there is still some plastic involved. Is is for a Ford Product, but works well on a Volvo. Plus, it doesn't cost that much.

I've been running Dave's heater valve for almost 3 years now, no issues what so ever. And Dave's tech support was great. I had a few questions which he quickly answered. Highly recommended.

There are many ways to fix this. Depends on your priorities. If you search FAQ you'll see some of them.
Or you could go to an improvement center and pick up an inline cut off valve and a length of hose and mount it somewhere convenient. If the valve on my car went bad that's what I would do.

How handy are you with coming up with your own solutions? I used a valve like this:

      https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fss-74828?seid=srese1&cm_mmc=pla-google-_-shopping-_-srese1-_-four-seasons&gclid=CLTNgsmhmc8CFdgPgQodxigHQQ

I needed to also purchase an elbow and a throttle cable to fabricate the parts. I found the valve to work pretty well.

One of my older posts on BB described how to do this. However, in that post I had used an old VW valve which didn't hold up. Most of the procedure is the same though using the above valve. I installed the above valve horizontally rather than vertically.

Here is the link to my old post. The pictures got lost but they are reposted at the end of the thread.

    Peter,

I'm currently using it in my 89' and a close friend of mine is using it in his 88'.

    Highly recommend it.

Make sure he sends the hose clamps with it as well. They are not pictured, but they are supposed to be included.

It used to be $100, but is now $120. Still worth it!

    Matt
