Need OEM Volvo Panhard rod (cross stay) 200

Hello all, I need two Panhard rods for my two Volvos. Volvo calls them a "Cross Stay" part number 1330300. I have called several dealers and they say they are no longer available. So I asked them if they could check the national data base to see if any dealers have a couple laying around, like you can with ANY other make of car. They told me that Volvo has NO national data base, so I would have to call each dealer.... I checked several online places and they let me purchase them, but then I received a phone call telling me they were no longer available. I said, they WHY do you still have them for sale on your site, if they are no longer available..... this has happened twice now. don't get it. Anyway, if anyone has any leads I would appreciate it.

What year is the car? Is there a difference or do all 240's have the same size? Would the 140 bar fit a 240?

IPD sells an adjustable bar probably cheaper than Volvo does?

Any junk yards near you? Some places take orders and ship.

IPD says it fits all 200's

Tasca Volvo does not indicate NLA. So I guess you could buy it from them.

However, using the Zip code you have in your brickboard.com account profile, I was able to:

Row 52 (copy and paste the link):

You have at least four 1988+ Volvo 240s at Pick N Pulls in the Dallas FtW metro. The panhard (or track) rod should remain the same throughout all Volvo 240-dom.

You may have other salvage yards in your area to look up.

There is a Volvo 240 for parts on the Dallas craigslist, yet it is in Oklahoma City?

Unbolt and bolt back in. Though bring a heavy hammer and some dense wood pieces should the thing not want to come off the passenger side of the rear axle. (Or even the bracket welded to the body on the driver side.

Though how do two Volvo 240 not have the panhard rod? Your recent posts suggest you were performing some rear suspension work. Can't safely drive the 240 without a panhard rod.

At any rate ... also use hex sockets with 1/2" drive or a breaker bar if you encounter rusted bits.

Consider bushing replacements.

Questions?

Hope that helps.

Need OEM Volvo Panhard rod (cross stay) 200

Hi everyone, thanks for the responses. To clarify. I have an 87 244 (sedan) and a 91 245 (wagon). I have replaced all of the bushings on the backend of both, with the exception of the panhard rod bushings. I don't have a press, and none of the Volvo places here in town will fool with it. They say they don't go bad and they doubt it needs new bushings. Well, both panhard rods have bushings that are cracked etc. My sedan has well over 400k and the wagon has well over 300 k. Since I can't get the old bushings pressed out I wanted to just buy two new ones from Volvo. I really want to have all the bushings on the back end of both cars, as I won't live long enough to have to do this again :) Yes, I could find some used ones, Yes, I could get one from IPD, but they are adjustable and have the poly bushings. Don't like poly as it makes the ride to harsh, and don't want an aftermarket adjustable either. I was hoping somone who read this may be a dealer, or know a dealer who might have a couple of NOS on the shelves. The part is No longer Available from Volvo, and there are many places online that STILL list them for sale, but when you call, they don't actually have any :( I may just have to buy my own press...... Thanks for the responses and the links !

"They say they don't go bad and they doubt it needs new bushings."

I have never had these bushings go bad in any of the 7 - 240's I have owned. The above quoted phrase has been repeated on the BB numerous times. They may have surface cracks but in this case does not mean the bushings are bad.

Hi,

Call machine shops in your area, ask around too if you know anybody who has dealt with any shops around your area. Our local (small town) independent tire shop has a press to do bushings. From what I have read on here most places do not charge a lot to remove and install them. Just make sure the bushings are oriented correctly.

I bought my own press but I had several bushings to do on two different cars at the time. If those are the only ones you need to do then it might not be worth the $. If you do buy one I know myself and others here on the BB would recommend the HF 20 Shop Press.

So if I look at this...you need the long METAL brace that controls the bounce on the rear axel.

How and why? do you lack this piece... it can't "go bad"
