1985 B21ft Base Idle Setting 200

When I try ti set base idle (deactivate CIS) and set idle to 800 RPM's it's O.K. untill I take it for a ride. As soon as I let off the gas peddle the idle stays around 1000 to 1150rpms.
So I was told to set a B21ft you need to set the throttle stop set screw so the throttle plate is closed then bring throttle plate 1/4 to 1/2 a turn so it doesn't bind.
When I do this and rev the engine the idle drops almost to stall then it goes to 900rpms. It has stalled a couple of times.
What could cause this to happen?

Yes, you are correct that is for the B21 engine or K jet.

The feeler gauge gives you a "drop back gap" on the screw.

What I like to tell people is, not to turn the screw so much in the first place, when adjusting the LH 's.

Only about one-eighth of a turn up from fully closed. That amount never got written into later manuals, due to lack of details. Like the reasons for why the screw is there in the first place. It just was not given to the technical writer or the concerns of cost of space was an issue, in the new issue!

Later on, the LH's have no block knob to help set the idle below the 750 rpm. The idea was to make the engine limp along below at normal idle to get the throttle plate below the range of the IAC air control.

It's after you release the blue / white wire circuit to bring the IAC back on-line, that you will achieve computer control of the 750 rpm and make-up air for A/C and auto transmission loading.

Thanks for the help, for spreading the word, in your post!
Question, do you play Bingo and dob B-13 a lot? (:-)

    Phil

Found how to set base idle on a B21ft.
    1. Deactivate CSI by using a piece of wire between CIS test plug (blue/white)and grounding.
    2. Set idle to 750rpm's.
3.Shut off engine disconnect ground wire.
4.Readjust the Throttle Micro Switch with a 10mm feeler gauge between adjusting screw and stop, by loosing the 2 screws and use a test light. Move switch up until light comes on then move switch down untill light goes out then tighten the two screws.
Again this is ONLY for the B21ft engines.
