94 Bosch ignition. Stuck in hotel parking lot in Hampton, VA. After driving all day and then a couple short trips, she won t start. Battery good, lights and all work. Absolutely nothing in KPII. As if not in park. I suspect neutral safety switch. It has never been a problem
Perhaps I am missing something simple. Is there a way to bypass NSS? Any other ideas would be much appreciated. No access to parts. Looks like a tow to a dealer tomorrow

Here is a screen shot of the shifter interlock circuit.
It will help you troubleshoot.
You should check fuses 11-3 and 11-4.
Hope this helps

Didn t check, it s pretty new. Would that cause such a condition? No crank with good battery?

I think I did not catch that you were saying it would not turn over at all...sorry.
Just for info, if it does turn and not start, it is an easy check ...removing the oil cap.. and make sure the camshaft is turning.

If you have not gotten it started yet, try turning the key to the start position and hold it while you move the shift lever to neutral and wiggle the shifter.

Did try that, jimo. The fact it doesn't shift out of park without the override is very odd

Solenoid is not engaging.
Hot and a suspect solenoid will not fire.
Solution. Large screwdriver. Try these.
1) with the key out of the ignition. Jump with the tip of the screwdriver - the battery lead to the blade contact on the solenoid. You will have to slide back the plastic on that female wire conxtion to expose some of the solenoid Male cnxn that is aside of the main battery conxn. on a 240 it is Bl/Yl. there should be only one wire going to the blade on the solenoid in your year. It runs from the Keyed switch and excites the solenoid. A sticky solenoid need more "direct voltage"...the screwdriver jump from the battery terminal on the starter/solenoid.
There should be a click/attempt to engage the starter. Try to start with the key as per normal. The "bump" you gave the solenoid should unhang it. and it should operate normally, engaging the starter.
2) if that fails. Put the Key in the RUN position. Repeat the above, holding as the starter engages and the engine starts...quickly removing the screwdriver blade as it starts.

Bumping the selenoid did not work, but jumping the starter did. Worked right away. Failed to mention earlier shifter not moving out of park except using shift lock override.
Still will not start with key. Will not shift out of park even when running. Car is functional. Perhaps it s the ignition switch
Thanks, CB for the advice. We can salvage the family trip and go home day after tomorrow. Everyone sends their appreciation.

I don't know anything about auto trans. alway had manuals in all mine.
FWIW, my 87 wagon, this spring suddenly would not start with the key, would not respond to the "bump" method. Had to jump the starter as describe.
The starter was the original, and it was just time for the solenoid to fail.
Got a rebuilt. Keeping the original and will do a rebuild on it myself, adding a new solenoid.
I have had the same thing happen on all three of the 240s --- been running them since 1983.
Never had an ignition switch problem, but have replaced several solenoids.
Cheers
