Is this automatic transmission shift linkage part the same on 940s and 740s? 200 1989

Looks like the situation in this picture is about to happen on my friend's 89 245:

Can I use one from a 740 or 940? Will the whole linkage swap?

No, the shift linkages are different.

But that doesn't mean you can't rig something.

However, I suggest finding a good used 1, or you could buy the new old stock 1 I have. FYI, these are no longer available from Volvo.
