1984 242 strut bearing issues 200 1984

I had the strut bearing replaced on my 242 with ones from Volvo about 5,000 miles ago. I this time I also had IPD sway bars installed with the sport springs that they also sell. All of the sudden I have noticed that the rubber on the mounts is deteriationg. I does seem like the hardwhere on the mounts differs a little from the originals. I do recall the person that installed the items mentioned that he did not install the plates at the bottom of the strut tube/ above the ball joint mounting braket and I wonder if this has anything to do with it. Thanks for any information.

    Mr. Brick Driver,

Strut bearing? Do you mean the strut mount? Volvo OEM PN 1272455?

    This thingy:

    If yes, read:

    http://www.turbobricks.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5280474

The article list several instances of brand new Volvo OEM PN 1272455 strut mounts failing fast.

The URO I had for ten years did not do this, yet that was in the year 2000. Meyle was worse.

Hates, HATES, hates photobucket. There is image hosting on turbobricks, yes? Or they can use brickboard. BrickPix.

They used to be Made by Boge of Germany with an SKF or, later, FAG (of Spain) open at the top ball bearing race, so you can lube 'em, and cover with the dust caps.

    Else:

install the plates at the bottom of the strut tube

You mean the the spacers, or seats, Volvo PN Volvo 1229423?

    Looks like:

If you used strut cartridges that require it for pre, what, 1985 non-turbo 240 strut cartridge housing (tubes). I'm unsure. I'm weak on the 1980s models. Never owned one.

Please lettuce know. A competent Brickboard.com member will replay. (No, not me. I'm a milk-drinking schlub.)

Maybe China Geely Junk Quality Coming Though, now, for Volvo OEM PN 1272455. If this is what you got, Mr. Brick Driver.

A Day Spent Repairing the Rental Slum Lord Hell Hole Wall Mount A/C. Nasty. Yucky. Smelly. Condensate Drain? Jeez. Yuck. Good night. St. Louis is a supreme hell hole and other kinds of holes that it also sucks on. Nasty. Hot and Nasty.

        Dear Mr brick driver,

Do the images from the turbobricks.com article reflect the strut mount failure you're encountering with your OEM Volvo blue box strut mounts?

        Could you post images, please?

        Thank you. Happy Sundae.
