Hi Everyone,

I'm finishing up the restoration of the trunk in my P1800, and I bought a spare tire hold down kit and strap, as is shown in the parts manual. My question is: how is the spare tire held down with these parts? There's a rubber strap and a curved "J" shaped bolt, but nothing in the trunk floor to secure these to. Could anyone send me a photo of how they've secured the spare tire to the trunk floor?

It's a 1969 (the last year of the carbureted models).

1800S through 1969 used different spare tire hold down hardware.

VP sells 668243-SET as a replacement. The parts are not original, but should work.

FYI, I have a wholesale account with VP and I normally sell their parts at their suggested list price.

Thanks. I have that kit but my question is: how is the curved bolt supposed to be secured to the trunk floor? I don't see any way to secure it to the trunk so that it holds the spare tire in place.

There is supposed to be a hole in the floor that the hook slides into.

I found it. The previous owner had covered it up with sound deadening material. Thanks!
