need for speed 200 1993

I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to sort out engine running problems in my 93 240. The car always starts fine but begins to shutter and eventually die out after it warms up. It has good compression, I have cleaned the throttle body, changed the AMM and oxygen sensor, replaced ignition components such as plugs cap wires ect..., I have also removed cleaned and checked the function of the two temp sensors located on the left side of the engine. There is no check engine light on, but when I ran the diagnostic procedure I get two codes 1-2-1 (fault in signal for AMM, and 3-1-1 (vehicle speed signal missing). What does this mean???

Speaking of a need for speed... 200 1993

Have you driven this car? Does the speed-o-meter work when you can drive it?

Have you tried another coil? They sometimes have a way of working pretty well when cold, but start to falter more and more as they get warmer and warmer. If you connect a timing light to either one of the spark plugs or the hot lead from the coil to distributor, a coil failure will show quite obviously.

Long shot - Make sure your AMM plug is inserted correctly and none of the prongs are broken, bent or damaged. I put a little dab of dielectric grease in mine to (hopefully!) improve conductivity.

It wouldn't hurt to double check the oxygen sensor connection too.

How about the crank position sensor they cause variations of the way an engine will run while it's running. Temperature changes effect the windings inside it.

You said you checked sensors on the left side of the engine which makes a lot of sense to do.
The CPS is behind the engines head and in the tight spot in front of the firewall.

It there is a frayed sheath it is a clue to how old it is.
Clean the connector pins and use some dielectric paste. If the problem is better or worse buy a new CPS.

    Edit: How does it drive?
The ECU codes point in two directions but vehicle speed is a speedometer related issue that affects idle.
The AMM code could be a pin hole air leak in the accordion hose behind it.
