Liquid Nails 200

Was talking to the guy today that is going to help me with my suspension work and we were talking about bushing in general.

He told me about an old trick that some people use at the track. He said that they would sometimes use Liquid Nails when they had a cracked or split bushing. He said that they would fill up the space with the stuff, let it harden, and away they would go!

Anyone ever heard of this old trick? (My car is getting all new bushings, not Liquid Nails by the way).

Liquid Nails>>sawdust etc. 200

What the heck, there are tons of things we all do -or-used to have to perform to keep moving. The stories of used car lots putting sawdust in the rear end!!

My Volvo mechanic 45 years ago was a great mechanic knew all the oldies and how to make 'em purr. Told me that he grew up in Tennessee and was on a lonely 2- lane road in his '37 Chevy and threw a rod bearing. He eventually cut pieces of his belt, soaked in oil, dropped the oil pan trimmed and fit in place of the bearing. tightened it down and got 500 miles on the "leather" bearing.

Black Pepper in to a leaky radiator..........goes to the leak and solidifies.

What else?

Actually, strips of beer can and a hose clamp are the preferred toasted bearing fix.

Because of its strength and curing process (it sticks to EVERYTHING), 3M window weld is commonly used to fill holes in bushings and engine mounts. This is not a "redneck" fix either. It is used when stock is required for racing class rules, etc.
