Busted knuckles or busted bank account? 444-544

.........which is the lesser of the two evils?

My PV needs all new bushings and king pin replacement. I'm somewhat skilled and could probably perform said work, but not sure if I want to. Anyone have any idea how many hours a shop could take to do the work? If I did it, it would have a multiplier of 3x. I'm guessing about 4 hours per side if all goes well.

Also, any opinions about whether to go with Urethane Kit or the original rubber material?

Thanks!

I would be tempted to start taking things apart myself.

If things go well, you could, repair/restore the suspension parts and bring the kingpin assembly to a shop if that looker too difficult.

If they do not go well, plan B!

I just went through all of this on my '64 PV544, and I also did the Kingpins.

I'd be happy to talk to you about it when I get to work tomorrow.

If you wanna chat, ring me at IPD. 800-444-6473. I'm at extension 147.

I've done the whole front end minus the kingpins. It was easy but maybe i was lucky....all the bolts spun off without issue. I did the disk brake conversion at the same timE along with an upgraded IPD sway bar.

Check the lower control arms....both of mine had small cracks that had started in an inner corner of the spring seat. Its a quick grind/weld repair but best caught early.

I didnt attack the kingpins because they felt tight. I used rubber bushings but wish i had used poly.

    good luck
    dean
