Turbo gauge 900 1992

When I accelerate slowly I can see the needle on the turbo gauge climb with RPMs to about half of the display. Then it drops back to the left to about 1/4 with the engine sounding loudly. This doesn't appear right. How far should the needle go to the right under acceleration ? I've never seen mine go pass the middle.

Thanks

It won't go past the middle (of the positive pressure side of the gauge) --that's the max from the factory. That can be adjusted by the relief valve rod to go to the far right (makes for way more power) but at the expense of possible detonation and certainly reduced engine longevity.
Accelerating gently will result in mild boost - a heavy application of throttle will cause it to make the factory max.
Light throttle cruise should show a small amount of vacuum (negative pressure side of the gauge) or a small amount of boost. Throttle closed deceleration should show as a heavy swing to the left on the gauge. -- Dave

Not sure how to put this...
"won't go past the middle... factory..."
      No. No. No.

The middle of the gauge is where vacuum ends and pressure begins.
Factory boost is around 7 psi, and will push the needle to approx halfway into the red. The OP is not seeing this, thus there is no boost. First place to look is intake hoses, some will collapse or fail under pressure, make noise, and not allow boosted air to reach the motor.

Can't edit so another post. I said "into the red". I meant not 'red' necessarily, but to the right of center, whether that's white or yellow or chartreuse. I think I recall that some older gauges show yellow then red, and I did not mean way over there.
