225 50 r16 tire question 900 1991

Are 225 50 r16 tires to much tire for a 1991 940. I need new tires and I saw a deal on Goodyear Eagle Authority 225 50 r16 tires at $69 each. The shop says they will fit. Am I asking for trouble or will these fit. Your thought wold be appreciated.

Thanks

    225 50 r16 tire question 900 1991

They would be BIG--but not outrageously so. Original size for the 16" rims is 205-55-16. 215-50-16 would be about an equivalent size (overall diameter) so a 225 is not that far off. A speed check for your speedometer would probably be a good idea - likely to read a bit slow. If you have snow in your area a 50 series is not the way to go. Great price though. -- Dave
