brake lines the same on wagon's and sedans? 200 1993

Howdy all,

I've got a 93 245 which has abs. The rear metal line that connects to the rubber flexible line is seriously rusted.

My question is if I get the metal line (firewall to rear flexible line) from a sedan will it fit my wagon?

Thanks in advance,
HACK

Not possible unless it is a replacement...cupranickle does not rust.

The end of the flexible hose is really rusted. The metal line is not.

When I tried to remove the flexible hose I rounded off the nut on the metal line. I used a correct size flair nut wrench.

Expecting the worse I'd like to get the metal line at pick a part Incase I mess it up. I'm planning on using a pair of vice grips to remove it.

Are the sedan and wagon metal lines the same?

Keep in mind, the common fix for this is to cut the hard line just before the fitting, buy a new fitting, re-flare. The Volvo lines are a cinch to flare even with cheap bubble flare tool compared to steel or stainless steel (terrible to flare). I guess I get wanting to replace the whole line but the handling and logistics of doing it are much, much harder than just repairing.

If it were US made vehicle of the same era, I would be telling you to not only replace that line but all the hard lines dues to rust (did this on a few now).

How about using a compression fitting to connect the old and new metal lines?

Don't have access to a flair tool.

Compression fittings on brake lines 200 1993

"How about using a compression fitting to connect the old and new metal lines?"
They've worked for me (and Lucid).

Have an Autozone, O'Reilly's, etc...you may well have a access to loaner. My local does.

I personally would never use a compression anything for a hydraulic fitting but I also went through 4 manual flaring tools before I found one that could do an ISO bubble flare on steel..still have not found one that can do SS.

hi uncle u- while i may still be on s list and probation, have one question for a sage like you- to wit, have not replaced any metal brake lines on my 92 245 but as always am anticipating issues. while the cupranickel lines do not rust, do the nuts sieze to the inlet port which would be a calamity since this metal is softer than steel and might crush. galvanic action between dissimilar metals may be a conundrum. thanks tons oldduke
