trim (beauty) rings 200 1990

Hello,

I want to get some trim rings for my 14" steel wheels on my old 240. The plastic hubcaps are worn out and the silver steel wheels underneath look good actually. Where can I get some that will fit? IPD and FCP Groton do not sell them anymore. Any ideas?

I like these thin rings on black steel wheels and pre-86 center caps.

Hey Kyle,

Where did you find yours? Were they new?

I got the trim rings on eBay. They were new and originally for 1985 - 1986 Ford Tempo's and Ford Mustangs with special trim wheels. They haven't held up very well though. The outer chrome comes loose from the inner steel ring over time. I bought 2 sets. The center caps came off my 1985 240 that was hit in the back and totalled.

trim (beauty) rings and old Virgos 200 1990

You guys are great. I seem to remember trying this a few years ago and I remember that the trim rings that I bought that were old didn't fit. That must be the reason why. The stamp on my rims is October 31, 1989. Spooky I know but I am glad that there is a difference with the old and new. I will look out for the newer ones.

On another note, I have some Virgos that are in good shape but they just don't seem to hold air. I have been dissuaded from having them refurbished because they are magnesium.

I have three, what are they worth to you ? I might have a couple center disks and caps too...

Hey Greg,

Well in light of the recent posts, what year Volvo did they originate? Thanks!

Try hub cap shops and ask for 1984 Volvo beauty rings.

There is a set of center caps that can go with them.

I agree they do provide a "Classic Look" that no one gets close to replicating using fake chrome plastic!

And try them on your wheel before buying...

I think this topic has been raised before with the net result in my memory being the wheel cover generation steelies don't accept the trim rings from the 80's.

My '89 when I bought it 10 + years ago. Note the pie pan wheel covers.

The '84 wheel trim and hub cap on the same wheels. I'm not a fan of the Raiders but this is one place where I like silver and black.

I'm thinking it's the earlier steelies that won't accept this treatment.

Thank you Don, you have fixed my memory, and Dave has pointed to the likely source of my faulty recollection, given I once had a set of those wheels using the clips.

And that's good news for my parts stash.

Bulletproof is correct. The earliest 14" rims on 240s with the small vents and the 5 spring steel clips to hold the small center cap do not have enough room at the outer edge to install the wide trim ring his car is has. -- Dave
