87 740 Windshield trim 700 1987

Does anyone know if the black and chrome windshield trim on 87 740s are compatible with each other? I've located pieces from a German company but mine are chrome and I need a top and bottom long pieces and they have only a black top and a chrome bottom. Are they made different enough that they can't be used together, they have to be all one type? Appearance is irrelevant to me, I just want to protect the edge of the glass. Volvo discontinued most of those pieces and these appear to be NOS.

Thanks.

    UPDATE:

The upper and lower windshield trim pieces arrived this morning via FedEx Ground. Very well packaged for the trip from Germany. I immediately unpacked them and placed them over the original top and bottom trim pieces on our 740 and they are a perfect match. I don't know how extensive a parts inventory they have or their year/model range but I remember seeing something from older 122 models mentioned while searching their site. Their company name is Skandix and their website is skandix.de and I highly recommend them from this experience. Yes, they do correspond in English and their site is in English. I will have a local auto glass shop install the new trim pieces. They installed a new windshield for me 3 or 4 years ago when I was only able to get the side trim pieces new from a US Volvo parts supplier. This was the first time I was able to locate the supposedly discontinued top and bottom pieces. Their part # for the lower trim: 1053708 with a sub # also listed below it 1342148 listed for 66,39 EUR. Top trim numbers: 1053703/3518235 listed for 25,34 EUR. Note they use commas instead of decimal/periods for Euro values. The total in USD was about $108. They acknowledged my order and said they would advise for shipping costs. Because of the length of the pieces, they assigned it to TNT Economy for international shipping and the charge was 125,38 EUR, about #146 USD. Pricey for sure but I was willing to pay as they were the only source I found for the long pieces. I don't think we can post pics with these threads or I don't know how to or I would include a pic of them in their original plastic sleeves. Happy camper here. Thanks for all your responses and input.

If memory serves, the bottom trim is affixed to the cowl. Remove the cowl, trim comes with it.

Thanks aleekat, I looked at my bottom trim and that's what appears to be the case. I should be getting my trim pieces from Germany next week or early the week after. I'll post on here how it works out.

The windshield trim top and side pieces (which clip onto plastic friction clips mounted on small posts in the body) are different than the bottom trim, at least on my 1990 745. The bottom trim is a flat plastic strip with a different mounting device. The bottom trim is not connected to the side trims. Any top/side trim should work on your car.

Steve, thank you for responding! After reading your response, I went and looked at my 740 and saw what you are talking about. I hadn't noticed the difference between the top/side units and the bottom strip. Your info is what I needed to know. Turns out, the German company has both top and bottom in chrome, at least according to their listing info. I've purchased both and will take the chance they are the right ones. They were the only company that came up on a net search for the NOS parts. Shipping sucks because of their size and shape but that's life when keeping old cars nice! I appreciate your help!

Let us know the results of this since Volvo has discontinued many of these windshield trim parts in the US.

I will do so, Steve. As I said the shipping cost sucked since they are long and skinny items so the shipping cost more than the combined price of both. I will post here in this thread when they arrive if they are Volvo OEM and are the match their listing promised. Their listing said through '89 700 series so we'll see how it pans out. I sent them their added shipping cost this morning but they are GMT +1 or 7 hours ahead of me in MST so by the time I saw their email it was already close to their close-of-business time. Such is international trade!
