Searching for Trico wiper blades or rubber inserts on 1800s. Where have they gone? 1800 1969

I used to be able to find the thin rubber refills for the Trico (112?) wiper blades and assembly. Now I can't find them. I clearly don't drive my '69 1800s in the rain much these days, but I need them to pass inspection.

Anyone have any tips on what to order? I thought I could get other blades and pull the rubber out and perhaps cut them to size? Or do I need to change out the wiper assembly?

ANSWER Searching for Trico wiper blades or rubber inserts on 1800s. Where have they gone? 1800 1969

Solution for now, got the car through inspection.

The awesome guys at my local AutoZone found a generic refill that fit the profile, but not quite as deep as the ones I had (who knows what they were). Cut to size and inserted.

Remembered that I lost a wiper arm on a cross-country road trip a few years ago which resulted in a almost-Trico blade on the other wiper. This blade was slightly narrower, but Autozone man gently shaved it to fit.

I'll go for the advice I got here to have proper blades and inserts on hand when I need them.

Thank you for all your help.

Can't answer your question directly, but FWIW 14" refills fit just fine.

I like the look of the stainless trico assembw. I have tried other stuff, but prefer the trico. I take out the old rubber and go to the auto store and find a 24 inch blade with the same profile (common) cut it in half, install. two for the price of one!

Do you use an adaptor as my Trico blades are 13", or are there 26" inserts of that profile?

Thank you for that tip, Patrick. Any issues with the metal parts? And is there a name & model number you use?

Sorry no info on what blade i used. I went to Canadian Tire and spent a couple of minutes looking at blades until i found a good one. Maybe mine are 13" and I bought a 26".
One of the reasons I do this is the Trico stainless hold the rubber without needing to bend any bits, mine have a flat blade holding section that the rubber is squezed through. I used to drive a 120 in the winter so I know the wiper system is underbuilt. A nice light wiper arm and blade are the best bet for longevity. I don't really drive in the rain much if I can help it so by the time the rubber has rotted out the brands will have changed and I'll find the profile that works, some car stuff doesn't change all the time, some does.

I emailed Trico for help. Here's there response:

"Here are a few options my team suggests.

Looks like you are looking for a refill or at least a rubber elements which could be cut down.

Refills would be 41-130 or the earlier part number RF-13.

    Ebay has these refills :
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=trico+rf+-13&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xtrico+rf+13.TRS0&_nkw=trico+rf+13&_sacat=0

The other option would to purchase 43-190, or 43-200 or 43-220 refills ,take out the rubber elements and cut them down to size."

What do you think works best on the original Trico arm and blade assembly?

Trico still makes a classic style 13" wiper blade, but they don't look the same as the old ones and I don't think they make refills.

Anco still makes a classic style wiper blade, but they don't make a 13" blade anymore, nor do they have refills for 13" either. Anco does make a 12" classic style blade and they offer refills for them. The 12" are almost identical except an adapter is required and supplied with each blade.

I usually sell the Ancos to my 1800S customers even though they are an 1" shorter. That is mostly because just about every other wiper blade with or without an adapter doesn't fit the stock 1800S wiper arm properly and this had lead to scratched windshields.

Thank you for that info, Eric. I might have to give you a call if I can't find anything locally. I'm on the other coast right now.
