gasoline leak S90-V90 1997

I was wondering if anyone else with a 97 V90 wagon has had a problem with a gas leak. It only happens when I fill the car. I get a little over ten gallons in and it drips out under the car. I have tried several different gas stations and pumps and my mechanic has been unable to find the cause of this problem! thanks for the help

Is this a new problem, or has it happened since you got the car?

Have you asked a dealer about it? Often they have hidden recalls or bulletins that describe a problem that has happened to several cars.

On one of our 740s, the area around the gas cap filled with water when I used a car wash. When I took the tubing apart, I found a small rubber plug, the same size as the hole in the filler surround stuck in the drain tube, blocking it.

If your car is like an 855, you start with the center trim over the rear hatch and work your way around to the side panel to get at the filler.

You'll have to do some detective work and try to see where the fuel is coming from. In my case (on my 240) I tracked it down to the joint between the filler pipe and the tank, where a rubber seal had failed. Anything more than 3/4 full would apparently let the fuel slosh around high enough to leak out. Same if you parked with the car leaning to the right. (Left on your V90)
