I think you nailed the era of clothing styles!
They must still have fabric stores there with bargain basements!

That is a walking experiment.

Was that the car was the oldest on the block?

The missing backup lens did align with that late fifties to sixties "red fire call box" on the pole behind the car. It's in the same condition.

Both are not essential in anybody's minds to have them repaired!

Sometime in the early 1980s, the Smithsonian had an evening series over 8 weeks, each week at top fashion photog, for an hour two told about how he/she went about shooting...what cameras, lenses, film, lighting, on the run to studio shoots.

Meisel was one in that series.
