Re try 200

The shifter on my 1993 240 wagon is very loose. The shift lock is not connected and I changed the bushings under the car last year. The looseness is up top as viewed in the picture. Although it may look good, it isn't. I'm thinking that the hole that can be seen in the lower left of the picture should have a bolt/screw that holds the shifter assembly tight. Not sure if bolt should go from top side down or from under side and up. Also what size? Can anyone help? Thanks.

    Mission accomplished 200

I got under the car but did not have to remove drive shaft. Thanks to a tip from Art B I merely removed one side of the transmission cross member (2 bolts) and loosened the 2 on the other side. Also I removed one of the drive shaft bolts which gave me some additional room. It was tricky lining up the holes to accept the bolt (6 M on the 1993) but a little perseverance paid off. Thanks all.

I can't help you from experience, but can post this exploded view in hopes...

We are so far behind schedule that the customer was happy to get anything at all.
