It has gotten progressively worse over the last 2 weeks,replaced plugs wires,cap& rotor,,vacuum hoses,,cleaned throttle body,,replaced the fuel filter,Put a new hose on the return,,line,,
refuses to start now & I loosened the bolts on the cat,,,& figured that maybe the cat is blocked,,got it loose a little & it still refuses to start..backfires,,,any suggestions?

Regina system fuel pressure should be 35 psi, 30 is low, though I think she would still start. Pressure should rise to 45 psi, when blipping throttle. Backfire could suggest timing issue (timing belt OK, engine still in time?) or maybe too much gas in cylinders from trying to start it.

If car cranks normally, but does not start, suggest checking fuel pump relay, radio suppression relay and crank position sensor.

I can feel the relays click,.i had just sprayed brake cleaner in the throttle body so maybe the backfire was from that,,
switched out the FPR w another & its started to run & idle fine,,Hopefully that is it

Backfire suggests timing problem - firing when a valve is open. When you replaced the cap and wires, any chance you switched up the firing order? That's easy to do on the rear mounted distributer.

No,,the distributor is on the block like the bosch models,,I replaced 1 wire at a time,,,&it was running really smooth after i started it the next time,,then the next morning it was hard to start again.

i got a reading of 30 lbs when I put a fuel gauge on the line by the fuel filter,,switched out the fpr to see if that made a difference,,nothing,,it ony has an tank pump unlike my 740;s,,,fuel pump relay clicks when I try to feel that when pumping,,tried a nother & made no difference,,,The white relay behind fuses seems to work fine,,unfortunately I dont have another to try to see if anything changes,,
