home-brew TAB tool - paying it forward 200

Now that I've moved out of the 200 series, I still have my home-brewed trailing arm bushing tool and I want to give it a new, deserving home.

Out of respect for the RWD brethren here, I'm willing to send this tool free of charge to anyone who needs it (in the continental US). My one stipulation is that you reciprocate the offer and send it along to the next person in need.

Please don't hang on to it or try to sell it... that would violate the intent of this offer.

If you need it, just email me.

Smitty

Just a suggestion. Maybe people with these tools could organize and have one available in each region. Southwest, West, North, Midwest, East, South. This would reduce the shipping costs. After all once you do this job you don't need the tool that often.

I could use it, but perhaps not until spring, although it's still, warm here in NE in December

I have trailing arms and bushings (that of course cost far too much) coming my way, so I will definitely be needing this as well... I'm planning on doing the work sometime early March-ish hopefully, so if we could get this thing circulating around the NE area (I'm in seacoast NH), it could help a couple of us out! Anyone know if it's still available for use?

hi artb- liked your pictures and tab tool build. not surprised you have to go to clip city dealer to buy their tool. 190 who the hell are they kidding. told by a fellow shade tree that you could do this with a pipe nipple against the edge of the old bushing with a bolt tightening against a slightly larger pipe nipple against the other side of the fixed flange. took radius rods or trailing arms off my 245 (one on each side ) off this past summer since bushings were shot(4). they were knocking and rocking and bought those new blue poly bushes from that australian company. couldnt get the old ones out so had to hire a shyster to do it. in the future will try your tool. hope i can borrow it from smitty. since you have the skill to make this tool and the shop, you should make a few for sale to cheap bastids(think you know a few). btw if i understand this correctly with the tool installed , when you tighten one cap while holding the other, the old bushing should move out to the side, but wouldnt you bend the flange as you tork it? dont mind me probably missed something from your description. remember hellaciousness never sleeps. thanks tons oldduke

Whatever you do, don't give it to Johnny Chan of Seattle Washington!
