A/C Pag Oil Refilling 900 1994

Hi,

Plan on buying about 250ml of new oil. For the 900 series the system's total oil is about 200ml to 240ml anyway. A total of 200ml if your old compressor was a Zexel/Seltec/Tama and 240ml for Sanden.

Measure oil from old compressor after draining it out via drain plug AND ports. You may need to invert the old compressor upside down for oil to come out via the ports. Your new compressor may come with new fresh oil. Drain this new oil out too. Put same amount (as drained from old compressor) of this new oil back into your new compressor. Spin the clutch by hand for about 10 to 15 times for the new oil to circulate inside. Install new compressor.

If your new compressor came without much oil then use the newly bought oil as addition. Put same amount of newly bought oil (as drained from old compressor) into new compressor.

After dismantling the filter/drier invert it to drain oil from the inlet port. Measure the amount. You can use any excess oil from new compressor or newly bought oil to be added into the new filter/drier (same amount as old filter/drier).

There's no need to add any oil into the refrigeration tubing where the orifice tube is. Remove old tube, lubricate the new one with fresh oil and push the new one in.

For Zexel type compressor buy PAG46 oil. For Sanden PAG100 oil. Just ensure they are the double end capped (DEC) variety as this is the latest oil spec. If you're anal like me get a Nippondenso ND-8 oil for the Zexel as it contains more anti-wear additive for its swash plate design. The Sanden uses wobble plate design which is not that critical to using such additive.

Regards,
Amarin.
