On a 444 oil filter canister which end goes toward the engine, the end with lg hole and several smaller holes or the end with the one large hole

    If your oil filter is on the side of the engine under the manifolds, the large hole faces out.

    Usually the special washer that goes into the large hole of the oil filter will be stuck to the bolt and stays inside the oil filter cover, but sometimes the washer gets stuck in the oil filter and is unknowingly throw away.
