1997 965 Front seats 900 1997

1997 965

I was lucky enough to find really nice front seats from an S90 in the local PNP that matched my wagons interior. They came with me that day. After cleaning, and making the cable modification to all the front to back motors I installed them and all is well with them. My problem is what to do with the originals, they do take up a good bit of room. What else fails on these? I will keep the drivers side controller box and control panels from drivers and passenger seats. Other than that I guess I could salvage a set of motors, and take the remains to the scrap yard. Any knowledge about what fails on these seats will be appreciated.

Thanks
Fred

Howdy Fred,

Maybe you can sell it to 740/940 owners since their seat can't rebuild like a 240 seat. Just a thought.

Your 007 from Brooklyn :-)

Dear darkdelta,

Hope you're well. I've had 965 seats in 940s for several years. Presuming that the tracks are kept debris-free, the only failure points are: (a) drive cable ends (between the seat motor and the drive gear); (b) the seat-side control panels.

If the drive cable end becomes "rounded", the seat may not move, even though the motor runs strongly. In the FAQs, there's a procedure for fixing a failed seat drive cable.

I do not recall a post reporting seat motor failure.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
