tightening plastic trim cover for handhold above driver's door 900 1993

Hi,
I'm really not sure what to call this part but they are the pair of plastic covers that take the the place of the hand holds that are on the other three doors. I think on the driver's side they just cover the screws that hold the molding on. One of mine is pretty loose and rattles. On the handholds, I figured out to peel the flexible insert out but on the two little covers on the driver's side, the insert appears to be fake and molded as part of the cover.

How do I get at the screw to tighten this?

Thanks!

Dear Irisius,

Hope you're well. To remove the color-matched plastic caps - that cover the mounting holes for a grab handle above the driver's seat - you'll need a small, flat-blade screw driver. The blade should be 3/16" wide.

The plastic cap is held to a white nylon base, by four lugs or tabs, that extend inwards (from the cap's edges). To release the cap, insert the tip of the screwdriver under the cap's edge, about 1/4". Twist the scredriver. The cap likely will "pop" free.

To replace the cap, align the cap with the white plastic base and press the cap towards the headliner's edge section, i.e., that just above the door opening.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

Thanks, Spook. That makes sense and I wouldn't have figured that out on my own.
