Transmission Tail Shaft Leak location 700

Where does the fluid usually collect for a tailshaft leak? I have a tans leak in that area and assumed it would be the tail shaft.

I changed my oil on ramps and inspected the area. I did not see any fluid on the seal. There did seem to be fluid on the bottom of the pan and the trans mount bolt.

Does the tailshaft leak collect there or do I need to look further.

Thanks for your help!

Check your tranny cooling lines for cracks where they are held to the frame by a small metal bracket. Remove the bracket to check for cracks. My 240 had leaks from both the tailshaft seal and the cooling lines at different times. The location you describe suggests to me that it may be the cooling lines. FYI - These can be patched rather than replaced. Search the BB for info.

I would think if the tail shaft seal was leaking that you would see a trail of fluid coming straight down from the seal. How sloppy is the yoke flange in the tail bushing when you shake the yoke up-down / right-left?

Another possibility would be the shift shaft seal(s):
