another a/c question 1993 200 200 1993

Hello All,

I had my a/c evacuated /charged yesterday and a new accumulator installed. Everything was working excellent. 1993 245.

I started my car this afternoon and the compressor would not turn on.

I check the power to the compressor by checking the positive wire to it using a test lamp. The dash switch is working.

I tried jumping the low pressure switch on the accumulator. The compressor did not engage.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Best,
HACK

    another a/c question 1993 200 200 1993

    Hi,

So there is power to the compressor? Unlikely for the system to be empty if there's power to compressor. Check its grounding next. Unlikely also for the clutch to be toast as everything was working well before (but its still possible). Check the clutch gap. It should be less than 0.5mm.
Usually this affects the clutch when engine is hot.

    Regards,
    Amarin.

I would like to add to Amarin post about the magnetic clutch not working.

Hold a screwdriver to the front compressor.
You can apply power to that connection you checked with the test lamp.

It should suck right up to the front of the flex plate.

      Phil
