ATF for M46 TRANNY 200 1980

Any one had experience using AMSOIL RACING SYNTHETIC ATF IN A M46 - OVERDRIVE?

Specs say usable for type "F" applications

I have seen some using Redline

Comments?

Thanks

    ATF for M46 TRANNY 200 1980

Amsoil Supershift has been working just fine in my M46 for the last 10 years. Goes into OD every time since replacing the original 4th gear switch last year.

    Hi Mike,

Please see (copy and paste URL/URN):

    https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/TransmissionManual.htm#M46FluidChange

The 700-series also used the M46 transmission.

    Amsoil, at least the SuperShift:

    http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/automatic/super-shift-racing-transmission-fluid-sae-10w/

Works in mine. Halted a grindy second gear in my current 1990 240 DL wagon.

Though I'd go with the Redline offerings people prefer here.

Use the overfill method with your M46. I Either Redline or Amsoil would require replacement at around 30-50k.

Look for articles by vvpete on brickboard and turbobricks.com. vvpete made the alarm that the Volvo documentation in owner manuals and factory service manuals were wrong in specifying fluid for M47. So, you may find more detail with artciles vvpete has posted on.

    Hope that helps.

    Questions?

    Duffed.
