Steel Brake Lines 444-544

Hi all-I Have the new generic Master Cylinder.
Brakes were done all around, shoes, drums, cylinders and rubber lines
about 8 years and 500 miles tops on the car.
These were done professionally.

Rotten rusted kinked brake lines.

Ok Brake lines. Do I bend my own, (first time for everything.)or order more expensive pre bent lines?

What kind of flare goes on the tubing?
Line to the reservoir, is there a suggested rubber piece from the nipple on the reservoir to the tubing that goes to the MC.

Any insights, warnings etc would be most appreciated.

I can borrow the flaring tool and bender from the auto parts store.

The tri-system of one circuit, one e brake and one foot do not thrill me..
Therefore..any help to keep us safe and sane are welcome.
best,

    Steel Brake Lines 444-544

AFAIK, no one sells any pre-bent brake lines for the 544 Volvos,

I could not find anyone selling any brake line kits either, but 1 of my suppliers sells some of the lines individually.

The brake lines come pre-made with new fittings and the correct flares, but not pre-bent and are supplied coiled into loops which is the way Volvo used to sell them.

The brake lines are not steel but are made of NiCopp, which is a combination of Nickel and Copper which is much more resistant to corrosion. FYI, Volvo also sold the lines made of NiCopp.

I can get 5 of the brake lines for around $90.00 which are all of them except the line from the brake master to the reservoir.

There actually is a special brake fluid compatible hose that is not bulk hose, but a molded hose that has 2 different size openings. 5/16" to go on the stock brake fluid reservoir and 3/16" to fit over the metal brake line that goes down to the reservoir.

But what most people don't know is that the end of the metal brake line needs a single or double flare on the end because the inside of the special hose is made to seal on a flared tube end.

Steel Brake Lines Connector expansion to master cyl 444-544

      Hi Eric and everyone else--

Thanks so much for the valuable info and all the hints tricks and ideas I have received over the years watching the board.
Re--connector hose from master to reservoir.
Hose, Brake fluid hose tank to master cylinder reservoir
5/16" to go on the stock brake fluid reservoir and 3/16"
Is there a substitute or work around for this discontinued part...

      best,

It is an easy brake line to fabricate.

Are you using the conversion brake master cap adapter that allows you to use a remote reservoir on the earlier brake master?

I ask because not only are the outer threads different for the cap, the threads for the brake line and the flare type at the cap are different as well.
