not getting gas to cylinders. Won't start 200 1985

Recently purchased 244DL was running perfectly, then began to feel lag in acceleration up to 30mph when first driven in morning, then ran fine after driving about half a mile. After a couple of days it wouldn't crank. Embarrassing to tell how many parts changed after working on it and sending it to a mechanic. All to no avail.
There is spark to cylinder, and camshaft is rotating. But, when cranking you can tell no gas is getting into cylinders.
Parts changed: ignition coil, ECM, mass air flow sensor all done by the mechanic. He also repaired some fried wiring going to the injectors. I replaced the fuel pump relay, main fuel pump, fuel filter, in-tank fuel pump and sending unit.
The 25amp fuse under the hood and fuses in cabin area are ok.
Spent way too much and it still doesn't get gas into the cylinders. Would anyone have a clue what might be wrong or what to check next? Thanks

Your 240 is one of the years that have rotting wires in the engine wire harness that is mounted on the firewall connector to connector and engine harness. Good place to start. Also what engine do you have?

It's a 2.3L engine. Interesting you pointed out the wiring harness. The mechanic repaired some of the wires that looked like they were melted together. The wiring harness is wrapped heavily in electrical tape, so I assumed someone else had worked on it. Would you know if there is a way to check it or just replace. Not sure where to get a wiring harness at any kind of decent price.
