Wheels & tires 1800 1973

I have a 1973 1800-es--have found some nice 1991 mags off a 940 which fit bolt pattern: wheel is 15X6 & offset is 25mm compared to the OEM original wheel which was 15X5.5 and a 24mm (confirm?).

Now looking for the best tire size.

Have been told 195/65/15 will work but also 205/60/15--any suggestions experience here?

I am thinking the lower and stiffer sidewall on the 60 might help with the "rolling" feeling on turns.

Either of the sizes you mention should be fine on 6" wheels. I've got 205s on our ES on the stock 5.5" steel wheels and they look totally fine. I would not go wider.

What tires are you running currently? If you're running 165/r-15, you'll notice a significant difference even with the 195s, and the steering will be lighter than the 205s...

185 to 195 would be the right width for 6" rims. 205 would look NASCAR "bulgy" and would sit better on 7" rims. I don't suppose its dangerous and it's within industry recommendations, though.
