Power Seat Conversion 900

Any surprises in changing a 940 driver's manual seat to a power seat I sourced through a pick-a-part yard?

Any additional relays or harnesses I need to pull?

Nothing in FAQ.

    Dear 94 945T,

Hope you're well. There is, in the FAQs, a detailed procedure for installing a powered passenger seat in a car that did not come so equipped. See: https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/InteriorPowerSeatInstallation.htm .

That same procedure works for a driver's seat, eacept that the wires need to be run from the fuse block to the outer (door-side) seat track, on the driver's side of the car.

Before starting this project, be sure to disconnect the negative battery cable clamp from the negative battery terminal. This cuts power to the SRS (airbag) sensor, which is monted on the floor pan, under the driver' seat. An airbag deployment - caused by dropping the seat on the sensor - can be fatal.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

Spot-on Mr. Spook! That was exactly what I was looking for, just couldn't find it. A step by step procedure.
Thank you for your always enlightening advice.

I have a couple of 850 seats in my 544. There is no room for the controls, so I use temporary wires off the battery to move the seat if the need arises. No one else drives the car.

No, it's very simple! Just get the plug in wiring. I connected the Neg to the chasis, the Pos to the fuse box where the power seat is supposed to be in my '92 740, and all has been well for several years now. Make sure you test all the functions and clean the seat tracks well prior to installing it-- a lot of crap gets in there and mucks things up.
