LH Jet blipping the throttle? 200 1984

Here is an interesting one...

When the car is started, it idles evenly.

It runs very well under load with no stuttering or missing, and merging on to the expressway it will pull 3rd gear (M46) all the way up to 75 mph.

But coming off the freeway and sitting at a traffic light, the idle is very uneven. The tach will periodically drop below 500 rpm at which point the computer momentarily "blips" the throttle to about 1500 to even things out. Idle stays even for maybe 20-30 seconds and then the tach dives below 500 again and the cycle repeats. This will occur for the rest of the drive, but only at idle.

Any ideas? TPS? Dirty throttle body?

Thanks,
-R

Yes, thoroughly clean the throttle body, constant idle valve, flame trap, and all associated vacuum hoses and vacuum fittings on the manifold and flame trap.
