So I recently installed a subwoofer in my brick and i have noticed my door lock is having some probs. Like I can put the key in the driver door to lock all the doors works fine, but when I get back to my car after school I noticed unlocking only works on 1 door instead of all doors unlocking. Could this be because the locks are not fully using the battery or something?

What sound does the relay make when you

1. When you push down on the driver's door lock button?

2. Lift up on it?

I had a similar (though opposite) issue with my '88 wagon. The key would unlock all doors but only lock the driver's door. I found the problem was with the switch that is part of the actuating rod in the driver's door. Since the rod moves up and down when locked and unlocked, the wires on the switch get stressed and can break. It's a tight space but possible to get the switch and rod disconnected from the lock cylinder and out of the door for repair without removing the window regulator.

It's more likely a wiring issue, as '84 is in the prime range of bad wires.

Drivers door wiring harness is a likely culprit. Were it me, I'd say be happy that it works to lock all the doors, and be happy. I'd also check the rear door lock, every time you lock them electrically. YOu can see that the passenger doors are locking, but you can't necessarily see that the rear hatch is locking.

I really doubt it has anything to do with your stereo equipment.
