Seemingly out of the blue I've got coolant running down the firewall and pooling on the rubber mat of the passenger side in my '68 220. This is with the heat "off" though that lever has never been all that great.

Before I tear things up, is their a common issue I should start with? I've got the "factory" AC, so lots of stuff in the way to work around so I'm really not excited about having to pull lots of stuff apart.

Second, as a short term fix am I ok to just throw a copper elbow between the two hoses coming off the block to bipass?

I'd read your article before but assumed the leak you were addressing was internal to the system and not additionally an external leak. I guess at the end of the day I'm going to have to get under the dash tonight to poke around.

Do you know if your rebuild guy, Mr. Tucker, is still working his magic?

Somewhere here, I mean here, there is an article on replaicg that HCV with one from a Rambler or something like that. The part is available at NAPA. I'll try to find it if you need to go that route. I seem to remember it was way cheaper than the real thing.
