SB, personally, I would prefer under axle, like all my Starlas are, but the much more important advantage being sold here overrides the ease of the under-axle pipe.
If you get a kit from Volvo (in the past 10 years) it is over axle. They made the same decision to only stock one type as the folks in Estonia/Chicago did on this beautiful-looking replica. It allows more cars to be fit with the same stock. The over-axle is, of course, not as easy to install and remove, and is a bit fussy about alignment for quiet operation. Some point to the lack of the flat squashed area where the axle pile passes under the axle as being better for gas flow.
By the time we are ready for a new cat-back purchase, someone will have had experience with this one. Otherwise I'd do the guinea pig thing -- it looks great in the pics*, and I thank Dan for letting us all know about it.
*unfortunately the aftermarket tail lamps look great in the pics too...
