73 es overdrive 1800


Want to replace the gasket between overdrive assy and gear box adapter...the one with 8 holes for the studs on the od flange. Looks like it can be done easily without dropping the gear box. What say all of you?

    I've never pulled one out of an 1800. Still, I think it'd be easier to remove the gearbox than try to do the repair while laying on the ground.

    Plus if it's out of the car, you could do a thorough inspection and repair of anything else that needs it.

    Yes, the OD can be separated from the adapter flange. A couple of the nuts are hard to reach--but doable. Re-installing can be a little tricky as the drive collar for the od oil pump needs to "capture" the cam on the trans output shaft but pre-aligning the components will help. -- Dave
