ignition issues 444-544 1962

Trying to start a rebuilt engine, and find that at the coil, with the ignition switch on and 12 volts appearing on the switch terminals, that there is no voltage at the low voltage wire terminal on the coil top. Shorted coil?

All 4 of the ignition wires from distributor cap to plugs show open circuit when individually checked with a continuity meter. What am I missing here? This distributor worked OK 2 years ago when the engine last ran...

Many thanks to all1

Al

Unplug the coil and check the resistance across the low voltage terminals. A 6V coil should have 2.5-3 ohms resistance. 12V coils are something like 4-6 ohms. If that checks out see if there is 8K between the primary and secondary terminals.

If that is good, are the points or capacitor shorted ?

Not saying this has happened to me, but try a higher scale on your meter for the plug wires.
