Fuel pump harness, continued and wanted 200

I posted a week ago about the fact that in my 88 245's past someone saw fit to replace the main fuel pump with a model that wasn't compatible with the factory electrical terminals. That pump started giving trouble and I bought a Bosch pump to replace it. Trouble is I didn't realize the terminals were cut and spliced until AFTER I started the repair and pulled the pump and filter bracket out.

Art from cleanflametrap.com gave me info on where to order pigtail replacement terminals and such, but if I had the choice I would prefer to simply replace the whole lot with a factory harness, rather than make splices.

I beg of you, folks and the Volvo Gods alike, could someone please come forth with a serviceable fuel pump harness for me to install? I am willing to pay, of course, and would greatly appreciate the gesture. My working hours have not afforded me the time to scour the salvage yards, and here in Western North Carolina, there aren't many old Volvos around. This is pickup truck country here in Appalachia!

If you have the means to help, let me know and we can arrange something agreeable.

Thank you in advance!

Aaron

If you get a used harness for a <= 89, you may have insulation problems. Buy a new one of follow 240Matt's advice and get the connectors from Barton.

Not sure why you wouldn't want to splice. I've spliced 2-3 cars this year alone, incl my current 1991 driver - which had crumbly insulation at the main pump.

If you're really worried, buy some shrink-fit connectors. They've been underwater on my house submersible pump for ~20 years ....

    Or splice under the seat.

I feel your pain, going through the exact same thing right now. Here is what i decided to do:

Go the Dave Barton's site, buy one yellow FEMALE sealed bullet terminal WIRE INSERT and by one black FEMALE sealed bullet terminal WIRE INSERT, i think they are 4 bucks each.

These fit right on the Bosch pump. I'm almost positive the wires to the main pump are yellow and black and of course match the yellow and black plastic on the pump.

    Hope that helps
