Steering Box 1800

Will a steering box with collapsible portion (probably from a '72 ES) mate to an upper column in a '64 S? I'm asking because I have neither car in front of me and can't remember what either component looks like. Thanks in advance for all replies.

    No.

The late box uses a cranked section at the join that allows it to break away in a frontal accident and the early one is straight and uses a circular flexi disc which will only bend away in the same frontal, if you're lucky. Adapting the late top section to an early car is possible but not easy.
